Acworth, GA. July 2, 2007. Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting lots of good folks at Georgia's largest mall, and the Southeast's second largest mall. Of course I'm talking about Mall of Georgia in Buford. In case you've never been there, it's up I-85 North to exit 115 and it has more than 220 stores within the 3-story mall located on 180 acres and a 500 acre tract. It's where the Imax multiplex cinema is and they have Dillard's, Nordstram, Belk, JC Penney, Macy's, Sears, and just about every other store you could possibly imagine. It's really a place to behold! In my shopping heyday I would have thought I had died and gone to that great big glorious mall in heaven! However, I wasn't there for leisure, although I did have a whole âlottaâ fun! I was at Waldenbooks greeting guests and signing my novel, "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember." The bookstore is between Belk's and the Imax and the food court. Just as one might expect in such a busy traffic location, I must have seen hundreds of people that afternoon--with babies and toddlers galore! All going to see the new animated feature film called âRatatouilleâ which means âratâ in French. Itâs about a rat who just happened to be a great chef! (Huh. First of all, I donât want no stinking rat in my kitchen or anywhere around my food, and secondly "animated feature film"--back in MY day we just called it a "cartoon" and got on with it!) When I arrived at the store, I was surprised to see and meet for the first time a loyal listener to the radio show. I remembered Cindy very well because she had even called in last year and we talked for almost the entire show. I'm happy to say she is doing great, is excited about her life and continues to be more positive about things day-to-day. She heard I was going to be there and made the extra effort to be at Waldenbooks to meet me. I would like to thank Cindy for coming to see me and for those wonderful things she said. She made a great day even BETTER for me! As one might expect, Mall of Georgia was a great place to have a book-signing event and it was most successful one so far on the tour. âAn Assignment to Rememberâ is the first of three novels in my âEdgewiseâ series about a young woman in an edgewise state of mind, driven to the edge by back-to-back traumas. As a defense mechanism, her mind shut down to block out those life-altering events, however it blocked other memories as well. The story is not as much about the actual events as it is about the healing progression and the prevailing strength of unconditional love between two people. Based on true events in my life, the story is told through the eyes of my alter-ego, Delaney Rutherford. Visit www.darlenewofford.com for more about me and see my complete book tour schedule. This coming Saturday, June 7th, I will be at Waldenbooks near Parisian on the upper level of Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Georgia, 770-476-7410 It seems like I see someone I haven't seen in ages, or meet someone like Cindy at every event. Wonder who I will see at Gwinnett Place?
